For as long as she can remember, Carrie has enjoyed the written word. She has always been a voracious reader, loving good middle-grade fiction for the clean adventures they offered. After becoming a mother, building a library of books for her own kids to enjoy became a focal point of her reading. But, perhaps, that was just the excuse for staying immersed in a world of books intended for young readers. Some of her favorite modern series of middle-grade books include The Mysterious Benedict Society and The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place.

As for writing her own stories, when Carrie was an early teen she had a variety of notebooks scattered about her room in which she would scribble down half-baked story ideas and her own early attempts at poetry. (Gratefully, all of these scribbles were lost to time.) It wasn't until much later in life that she started considering writing a book of her own, and another seven years before she began in earnest. Her first work, Island of Stars, would not have happened without much encouragement of her family and friends.

When storytelling, Carrie has found it impossible to depart from her deep love of British history. She and her family travel to England regularly, and it's not hard to get her started talking about the Royal Family or the places she's enjoyed seeing "across the pond".

Carrie's heart might lie in England, but her person lives with her family in the rolling hills of Northern Idaho. Hidden in the Palouse, Carrie lives with her husband Jonathan, along with their five children, three dogs and three cats.
